July Session

Be a part of Malchut! The teen-centered, freedom-oriented, community-based program to take the magic of being an Eden Village camper to the next level. Join your cohort of 10th graders in living your Eden Village values through cooking communal farm-to-table meals, exploring new teen-only chugim, stepping into leadership roles, enjoying extended free time, and building a vibrant Jewish community together.  Malchut isn’t just another summer at camp – it’s the FINAL-wild-adventurous-joyful-grounding-culmination-of-all-your-summers-at-camp summer.

August Session

Our Malchut session in August will explore the leadership and communal values of our 5-week Malchut experience in an abbreviated program. For a full experience of the traditions previously offered, we recommend the 5 week session.

13 Days
Entering 9th – 11th grade

$4,500

Truly unplug and tap into your true self this summer in the Adirondack backcountry.

Paddle, hike, and adventure through the Adirondacks as you practice your new survival skills, learn about backcountry cooking, test your limits, and learn to rely on yourself and your community. Step up to the challenge and find yourself, community, the power of the wilderness, and so much more!

Due to the nature of this program, the canoe trip is contingent upon full enrollment. The enrollment deadline for this trip is December 22nd. We will be in touch with families by January 3rd to confirm enrollment and trip status – spots at-camp for each camper will be held in the event the trip is under-enrolled.

11th Grade Program

Eden village in the wild

We are taking Eden Village Camp on the road to explore what it means to bring our Eden Village values into the wilderness and the “real world.” Traveling from camp to the Adirondack wilderness to the concrete jungle of Montreal and back to camp again for our final week, we will be connecting with ourselves, our Jewish tribe, the whole world… yeah that’s right!

July 28th - August 16th

$7,425

What is the itinerary?

Getting Started: We’ll start at camp and spend a day building our cohort and preparing for our adventure!

Week 1: Wilderness Experience: We’ll head to the Adirondacks for a week of living in the backcountry wilderness. Here we will ground in our community and nature-based values, deepening our connection with self and spirituality. We’ll canoe to a backcountry wilderness campsite, cook our own food over the fire, swim, stargaze, fish, and explore the beautiful wilderness of the Adirondacks Lakes region. Teens will define and create for themselves a meaningful Shabbat experience rooted in tradition, Eden Village magic, and the stunning backdrop of the Adirondack wilderness.

Week 2: Montreal Adventure: After Shabbat, the group will hit the road for a week in the city of Montreal! Discovering how we can find and create Eden Village magic in ourselves and all around us, we’ll explore the historic Jewish communities, foodways, and modern cultural experiences that Montreal has to offer. All the while, we’ll be singing, dancing, angel-walking and love pranking our way through the streets of this vibrant city. We’ll spend our second Shabbat in the city and journey back to camp on Sunday.

Week 3: At Camp: For our final week we will re-immerse ourselves at camp, share the stories and lessons we’ve learned, and enjoy the sweetness of being surrounded by our broader community. Teens will participate in some regular camp programming as well as tribe-specific activities. We’ll wrap out with a final shabbat at camp before heading home.

What if I have no canoeing or camping experience? How rigorous is the trip?

Teens do not need any prior experience to participate in this program. It is designed to support campers who have never been camping, challenge expert wilderness adventurers, and engage everyone in-between. The trip is full of challenge-by-choice moments and is designed to be accessible to a wide range of people. Participants need to be able to carry their backpacks with all of their belongings on their own, help paddle a two person canoe, and be willing and ready to sleep outside and have no bathroom or running water for a week.

Who leads the wilderness trip?

We partner with Destination Backcountry, a local wilderness guide service we have been working with since we started this trip in 2021. They provide certified wilderness guides familiar with the area who join our group, keep everyone safe, and provide epic knowledge and experience to our team!

Is this trip for my camper?

We strive to make this trip as accessible as possible. Our hope is that most campers who have grown up at Eden Village are able and excited to participate in this program. However, due to the nature of the travel and backcountry components of the trip, we are not able to provide the same level of support as at camp. If your child has a severe food allergy, health condition, mental health or behavioral support need, please be in touch with us to discuss their individual needs and whether this trip is the right fit for your child.

Will I hear from my camper while they’re on the trip?

While on the trip, teens will not be able to write home as they normally do during their time at camp. Instead, we will be writing email updates to all families throughout the trip providing updates on the group and their adventures. If an issue arises with your child during the program, we will be in touch with you directly.

What does my camper need to pack?

Packing for this program is not like packing for camp. We provide very detailed instructions to make sure everyone has what they need. All participants will need a hiking backpack (45-65 liters) to pack in, a sleeping bag, and sleeping pad as well as a few smaller camping items like water bottles, a headlamp, water sandals, etc. The rest of the camping gear will be provided by camp. If you don’t have a backpack, sleeping bag, or sleeping pad, please be in touch with us about borrowing something from camp. You can see a detailed packing list here

Will the trip spend time at camp?

Yes! The trip will start and end at camp, and the group will spend the last week at camp.

Is the trip kosher and shabbat friendly?

Yes! The trip is fully kosher and supportive of traditional shabbat practice. While in the wilderness teens will learn about how to keep shabbat in the woods and set up an eruv around our campsite. In Montreal we will kasher our kitchen and get to taste some of Montreal’s kosher treats!

Financial aid

Eden Village Camp is committed to making camp affordable for as many young people as possible. Our goal is to make camp work for your family. Camperships (as we call financial aid) provide some assistance to families for whom payment of full tuition is not possible. The amount awarded is decided on the basis of need (as documented on the Campership Application and tax returns for all parent/guardians) as well as the availability of funds. Our Campership Committee has tried to make the process as easy, confidential, and fair as possible. Campership applications will not be considered until we have received your camper’s enrollment fee, which is fully refundable if we are not able to provide enough aid.

If this enrollment fee amount poses an obstacle, call us at 845-809-0080.

Things to Know about Financial Aid

  • You must first apply for camp and pay the enrollment fee before applying for aid. If the enrollment fee poses an obstacle, please call us.
  • The priority deadline for the application is December 1st. The regular deadline is March 20. All applications received after March 21 will be reviewed on a rolling basis as long as funds remain available.
  • The Campership application is not an application to Eden Village Camp. You must fill out the Eden Village Camp application online, in addition to the online Campership Application.
  • Your application is not complete and will not be considered until you have paid your enrollment fee and we have the most recent tax return for all parent/guardians. Please upload those documents directly into the financial aid application.
  • Our goal is to notify applicants as soon as we can. For applications submitted by December 2nd, we will notify applicants by January 21st. For applications submitted between December 3rd and March 20th, we will notify you on a rolling basis, and by April 28th at the latest. After March 20, we will review applications and notify applicants on a rolling basis, unusually within three weeks.
  • Any Campership applications submitted after March 20 will be considered once grants have been made to all applications received prior to the deadline.
  • Financial aid for the 8-week and 7-week Journey sessions is now available for 8th-11th grade campers. Financial aid awards for Journey sessions are restricted to a maximum of 25% of the program fee.

Scholarships from External Organizations

Most of these scholarships and grants require you to first register for a session at Eden Village Camp.

For Russian Speaking Families

Eden Village is offering Grants for Russian Speaking Jews of up to $750 for first and second time campers.

To be eligible, at least one parent or the camper themselves must have been born in a country which was part of the former Soviet Union, including: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, or Uzbekistan, and consider Judaism part of their identity.

This grant can also be used in addition to the One Happy Camper grant, and does not require any additional application. Please contact us for more information.
